Since 1985, Goddess Rosemary has been saying “Chivalry is the new machismo.” And its true! here are a few rules to follow to bring this concept into the future… as relevant today as the day she spoke them: (From the “Book of Secrets” of Temple House Sahjaza Presented by Goddess Rosemary)
THE 13 NIGHTSIDE COMMANDMENTS
- Listen to elders (in & out of the community), you just may learn something that will be of use to you;
- Always remember…everyone is valuable in some way, treat them well;
- Ask permission before touching a woman or a man, do not assume you have permission. Women & men are not objects… unless you’re actively involved in some kind of roleplay;
- Escort a woman to her car if she is alone and wait until she is IN the door before you leave;
- Always say yes, please, and thank you;
- Open doors and give your seat to women, and clearly, for the elderly;
- Turn the light on if you are the first in the room;
- Survival is not necessarily of the fittest! We’re all in this together, so lend each other a hand;
- Idol gossip or false witness is not productive, nor becoming;
- Tearing others down does not build you up or make you look cool.Bully behavior is not becoming, nor in vogue; it makes you look less then you are or can be. Practice great meditation… It’s always best to resolve conflict through talk, rather than through violence. Respect others and you respect yourself;
- Drinking etiquette: We must all watch out for one another, be aware of anyone leaving with someone who is drunk driving and try to provide assistance in stopping them. We’ve lost too many to this senseless act. Drugs will kill you eventually… and cause you to alienate family & friends;
- Respect your mate. Respect each other if you’re in a relationship, Faithfulness is the only option if you have told each other its monogamy, it’s possible for all to be faithful. If you’re not interested in being faithful make that clear from the get-go;
- Last but not least, how would YOU like to be treated?
